Der Studiengang wird von den Programmbeauftragten Herrn Prof. Dr. Mansel in Köln und Herr Asst. Prof. Dr. Murat Can Atakan, LL.M. in Istanbul gemeinsam betreut. Application and approval

The programme is supervised jointly by Prof. Dr. Mansel in Cologne and Asst. Prof. Dr. Murat Can Atakan, LL.M. in Istanbul. Fifteen German- and fifteen Turkish-speaking students are admitted each year for the winter semester. Nationality is not a factor for admission. Those who have acquired a university entrance qualification issued by a German authority (usually the German Abitur) must apply by post via the Centre for International Relations of the Faculty of Law by 15 July each year.

Required documents are:

  • German university entrance qualification (Abitur certificate (certified copy) or upper secondary school certificates from Q1 and Q2)
  • Letter of motivation (in German)
  • Curriculum vitae in table form
  • Application form (please note the relevant information sheet!)
  • three passport photos

To be submitted to:

Herrn Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c. Mansel

Zentrum für Internationale Beziehungen
der Rechtswissenschaftlichen Fakultät

Universität zu Köln
Albertus-Magnus-Platz
50923 Köln

Please note: Admission to the German-Turkish programme does not automatically mean admission to the "First Exam" programme.
These are two separate admission procedures. Therefore, applicants are advised to apply simultaneously for a place on the degree programme leading to the "First Exam" if the Bachelor's degree programme is to be studied in parallel to the degree programme leading to the "First Exam" (information on how to apply can be found here.) This is to achieve the above-mentioned advantages of a joint degree and to open the way for post-university training for the classical legal professions.

The application deadline for the subject with the degree "First Exam" is also 15 July 2022.

You are only enrolled for both degree programmes if you are admitted to both. Otherwise, you are only registered for the degree programme for which you have been admitted.

Applicants are free to apply for admission to the law degree programme "First Exam" at the Student Secretariat at a later point in time if you are initially only admitted to the Bachelor's degree programme. Further information on such entry options is available from the Student Secretariat.
