Approval requirements

An essential admission requirement is, among other things, proof of

• a law degree in Turkey ("Lisans, LL.B."), or

• a law degree in Germany ("Erste Prüfung"), or

• another equivalent law degree (comparable admission regulations).

• Furthermore, proof of sufficient command of the Turkish and German languages must be provided in accordance with the regulations for the university admissions of the Istanbul Bilgi Üniversitesi and the University of Cologne.

  • The Turkish language skills can be proven by completing the legal terminology course offered during the orientation week with at least the grade "vollbefriedigend".

Application documents and procedure

For applicants with a German or non-Turkish law degree:

• Curriculum vitae (in Turkish and German)
• Letter of motivation (in German and Turkish)
• Proof of graduation (certified copy)
• Transcript (certified* copy in German and Turkish)
• Other documents supporting admission (certified* copy in German and Turkish)

The documents must be submitted via KLIPS 2.0 by 15 July.

For applicants with a Turkish degree:

• Online application form
  • Please complete the form and submit the signed printout online with the documents listed below.
• Copy of your identity card or a copy of your "Mavi card"
• 3 passport photos
• Current certificate regarding your military status (male students only)
• Certification of German language skills (accepted certificates:: DSH 65/100, TestDaF 4, Goethe - Zertifikat C II: Zentrale Oberstufenprüfung, Kleines Sprachdiplom Stufe II).
• Certificate of Turkish language skills (completion of the Turkish legal terminology course for advanced students with at least the grade "vollbefriedigend")
• Curriculum vitae in Turkish
• Diploma (proof of legal studies within the scope of the Turkish Higher Education Framework Law (Yüksek Öğretim Kanunu) with the degree "Lisans, LL.B." and proof of fulfilment of the admission criteria of the Turkish Regulation on Postgraduate Studies (Lisansüstü Eğitim ve Öğretim Yönetmeliği) as amended from time to time, or of legal studies within the scope of the German Basic Law with the degree "First Exam").
• "Transcript" (certified translation in Turkish or original document in English).
• Written statement of reasons (letter of motivation) for choosing the degree programme (in Turkish)
