Ernst E. Hirsch-year 2010/11

Namesake

The first class was named after the German jurist Prof. Dr. Ernst E. Hirsch, who had to flee to Istanbul in 1933 to escape Nazi persecution in his home country of Germany and became the "father" of Turkish commercial law. After his return to Germany, he helped to establish the Free University of Berlin as Rector, among other things. The German-Turkish Master's programme, which offers joint studies in Germany and Turkey, is in the spirit of the academic exchange lived by Ernst E. Hirsch.
