Brief portrait

The Faculty of Law of the University of Cologne, together with the Faculty of Law of the Università degli di Studi di Firenze, offers an eight-semester Bachelor's degree programme in German and Italian law, which is unique in Germany so far. A joint one-year Master's programme builds on this binational programme. The programme is completed with a Joint Degree Master of Laws (LL.M. Cologne/Firenze). The achievements of the Bachelor's and Master's degree courses are credited to the five-year study course of the Italian Laurea Magistrale in Giurisprudenza, so that students can simultaneously acquire the Italian legal degree.

In the Master's programme, students complete the first semester at the University of Cologne and the second semester at the Università degli Studi di Firenze. During the Cologne semester, they attend lectures in the areas of tax and accounting law, private international law, international and European law and procedural law of both legal systems. In the second semester, the comparative law master's thesis has to be written. The programme officers of the programme are Professor Dr. Dr. h.c. Mansel, Cologne, and Professor Dr. Albanese, Florence.
