The German-Turkish Master's program in Business Law Cologne/Istanbul Bilgi

Since 2010, the University of Cologne and Istanbul Bilgi University have been offering a two-semester international Master's program in German and Turkish Business Law. This program is accredited as a joint degree and is funded by the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) due to its unique, highly qualified business law profile at two leading law faculties in Germany and Turkey, including scholarships for the study phase in Istanbul, for which students selected via Cologne can apply. The programme is the ideal specialization opportunity for students who are fluent in written and spoken German and Turkish and have completed their first degree in German or Turkish law. Teaching is provided by excellent, internationally active professors and practitioners in Turkish, German and optionally English, offering, among other things, an in-depth insight into transnational legal work. The program is rounded off with a six-week business law internship, which prepares graduates for the world of work. The Master's program has been supervised by the program coordinators Prof. Dr. Dr. h.c Mansel on the German side since the program was founded in 2009 and by Prof. Dr. Başalp on the Turkish side since 2015. The Center for International Relations (ZIB Jura) with Dr. Kruse and Ms. Wiss. Bilgici is at your disposal for all information.

Due to Turkish higher education law, special regulations apply to persons with Turkish citizenship and who have passed the first legal examination in law (German "erstes Staatsexamen"). In this case, a consultation with the academic staff of the ZIB-Jura of the Law Department is required. Please arrange a consultation with ZIB-Jura. Further information on the application process can be found on the Application and Admission page.

Financial support

At the University of Cologne, there is a semester fee of approx. 320 euros for the first semester, which also covers the cost of the Deutschlandticket and offers various discounts in Cologne and the surrounding area (e.g. canteen).

The tuition fees at Bilgi University are waived for participants from the German side (therefore no tuition fees have to be paid in Istanbul, so-called "fee scholarship").

Eight performance-oriented scholarships from the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) are available for students selected via the University of Cologne and Bilgi University. This DAAD funding includes both a fixed funding amount and a travel allowance.

The Turkish website of the LL.M. (Cologne/Bilgi Istanbul) can be found here.
